Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

OddsGenie ("we", "us", "our") operates the website www.oddsgenie.com as a comparison and information service for online casinos available to Canadian players. We are not a casino operator and do not accept wagers, hold customer funds, or process gambling transactions. All gambling activity takes place on the licensed operators' platforms that we review.

2. What we collect

  • Visitor activity (with consent): page views, referrer, UTM parameters, device type, browser, screen size, language, country (from IP geo).
  • Cookies set by us: og_consent (your consent decision), og_vid (anonymous visitor ID, set only after you accept), og_ref (campaign attribution code from inbound SMS/email links, set only when you arrive via one).
  • Third-party cookies (only after you accept): Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics 4 (analytics), Google Ads (remarketing), Voluum DTP (affiliate attribution).
  • Contact / newsletter (if you submit): email address, name, and message content.
  • Push notifications (if you opt in): a browser push subscription token, used only to deliver notifications you have specifically requested.

3. Why we collect it

  • To operate, secure, and improve the website
  • To measure traffic, content performance, and casino-comparison outcomes
  • To attribute clicks to inbound campaigns (SMS, email, social) so we can accurately measure our marketing
  • To show you relevant content and (with consent) display personalised remarketing ads on platforms like Google
  • To respond to enquiries you send us

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited, necessary data with:

  • Google — for analytics, Google Tag, and (when enabled) Google Ads. Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented: until you accept, all advertising and analytics storage is set to denied.
  • Voluum — affiliate-click attribution provider used by some of the casinos we list, so referred clicks can be tracked back to specific campaigns.
  • Casino operators (via redirect only): when you click an affiliate link, your browser is redirected to the operator's site. We share only the click attribution identifiers (e.g. param1, param2) so they can credit referrals.
  • Service providers who host our website (Vercel), database (Neon Postgres), email (Resend), and similar infrastructure. They process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.

5. International transfers

Some service providers may store or process data outside Canada (e.g. in the United States or EU). Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards to ensure your data is protected.

6. Your rights

Under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU GDPR, and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccuracies
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (clear the og_consent cookie to re-trigger the consent banner)
  • Lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@oddsgenie.com. We respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

Analytics data (Google Analytics 4) is retained for 14 months. Visitor records and click logs are retained for up to 24 months for attribution and fraud-prevention purposes, after which they are anonymised or deleted. Push subscriptions are deleted when you unsubscribe.

8. Children's privacy

The website is intended for adults of legal gambling age in their province (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec; 19+ elsewhere in Canada). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top will reflect the last change. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days.
